New Way To Recycle: Reusing Old Gadgets for Art

by Tim Goggin on December 14, 2009

I’m always trying to find new ways to “Go Green.”

My family is well aware of this fact since I try to get them to stop drinking water out of the plastic water bottles while at home. Especially when they could simply fill up a glass from the purifier.

Anyways, back to my point, I am always interested in neat new ways to reuse things, so when I saw this article on new uses for old hard drives I was instantly fascinated.

Creating Art From Old Technology…

Miguel Rivera created cars, bikes and robots (that remind me of that from Transformers) out of old hard drives. Check them out below:

This Fat Boy Motorcycle was made from 36 disks: 8 in the front, 28 in the back.

The robot was made from 14 laptop hard drives, 18 discs from hard drives, spare parts and a cable management arm from a Dell 2950 is made of 14 laptop hard drives with 18 additional discs from gutted hard drives and spare parts

The next cool thing I found was a Mona Lisa recreation made out tons and tons of motherboards and computer chips.  This amazing piece of art is displayed  in the lobby ASUS Headquarters in Taiwan. (Don’t let the picture fool you, apparently its HUGE and almost touches the ceiling)

Let me know if you have any other cool artwork that has been done from old tech, and I will also update you guys if I find any other news worthy pieces!

Hi, I use old floppy disks as a canvas to paint on. Check them out on my website…
